Under the supervision of Davenport and Laughlin, the ERO relied heavily on the work of its field workers and administrators. Young field workers like Margaret Andrus conducted field reports on “feebleminded” patients at King’s Park State Hospital, and practiced by conducting research on her own family genealogy! Meanwhile, Davenport’s assistant Mabel Earle proved invaluable as a translator for German and French research in eugenics and psychology, helping Davenport.
